Recommended Dance Floor Sizes

Recommendations are based on the approximate number of guests dancing at one time, not your total guest count.

12' × 12' — Up to 30
15' × 15' — 30–50
18' × 18' — 50–70
21' × 21' — 70–90
24' × 24' — 90–120
27' × 27' — 120–160
30' × 30' — 160–200

How Many Guests Will Actually Dance?

Most weddings only need a dance floor large enough for approximately 30–50% of the total guest count, since not everyone will be dancing at the same time.

75 guests → 15' × 15'
100 guests → 18' × 18'
150 guests → 21' × 21' or 24' × 24'
200 guests → 24' × 24' or 27' × 27''

What Else Should You Consider?

Venue Size
Make sure your dance floor fits comfortably within the room or tent while leaving adequate space for tables, walkways, and service areas.

Event Style
High-energy celebrations may benefit from a larger dance floor, while dinner-focused events often require less space.

Guest Preferences
Every event is different. Some groups are more likely to spend time on the dance floor than others.

Installation and Subflooring

Dance floors can be installed indoors or outdoors. For installations on grass or uneven ground, a subfloor may be recommended to provide a stable and level surface.
